.... My account is based on the experience I have gained in five and a half years among prisoners of war in Russia and Siberia. From the winter of 1914 to the summer of 1920 I worked among the prisoners of war, partly privately, partly as a delegate of the Swedish Red Cross and with the authority of the Swedish and Danish legations as protecting powers. ....
